Fun, interactive, hands-on science centre

Now for the big picture! Horizon the Planetarium at Scitech is the biggest planetarium in Australasia, presenting the quest to understand the universe in an entertaining and enjoyable way. A huge 18-metre-diameter dome screen enables a superb 360° view of night sky images. Ride through martian channels, visit the moons of Jupiter and see supernovae explode – look up at the glittering night sky with renewed wonder and awe.

Scitech is a hands-on science centre with an ever-changing range of interactive and enlightening exhibitions that appeal to families and people of all ages. The current exhibition Rescue challenges visitors – Do you have what it takes to be a hero? Rescue (on until 13 May) puts visitors in charge of daring land, sea and air rescues. Take the controls of a full sized helicopter simulator, navigate jet skis around obstacles, find your way through a smoke filled room and scale the rock wall to safety. Or if you're after excitement of a different kind complete a loop on the 360 degree bike - part of the Up, Down and Around exhibition. Riders will experience the physics concepts of free-fall, velocity and momentum while having complete control over the experience.
