the swan valley

rolling vines and natural bushland, so close to the city

Just 25 minutes from the centre of the city, the Swan Valley, with its calendar of festivals and events, is a popular destination all year round. The area was settled in the nineteenth century when farmers found it difficult to find uninhabitetd land near the banks of the Swan River in the city. Many of the charming old buildings in the area have been retained and refurbished, particularly in Guildford.

There are more than 40 wineries to visit, from the small to the world-famous; recent years have also seen the establishment of several boutique breweries in the area. You can visit art and crat galleries and workshops, a chocolate or nougat factory and a host of cafes and restaurants.
